If You're Gonna Play in Texas

Spencer said everyone should have this Alabama song "If You're Gonna Play in Texas" on your play list. So Spencer it is on mine. Every time I hear it I will think of you....

Chick

Here is a picture of my Quarter Horse "Chico Bard" but I called him "Chick" for short. I loved to ride him and I showed him in horse shows. I even won some of the classes. In 4-H, I won grand champion in fitting and showing with Chick. This was a halter class and Chick would stand very still for me. I had many fun days riding him.

1st Grade

Carter, Spencer and Chloe,
Here is a picture of "Memaw" when I was in the 1st grade. My teacher's name was Mrs. Chloe Day. I went to Union School and it is now a museum. I loved going to school and playing with my friends. My sister Sally and I were in the same grade. It was fun having my sister with me. We rode the school bus every day unless we missed it and our Mom would take us. We ate hot lunch and I loved the cinniman rolls.

I'm Home

November 21 Alice and I went to Twin Falls and I signed the papers to buy our family home on 273 Hwy 74. It was very exciting. Then on December 20 Matt, Alice, Travis, Rebekah and their families helped me move to Twin Falls. There was lots of snow in Flagstaff but it melted some and made it easier to move. When we arrived in Twin there was snow on the ground also just like there was when I left 5 years ago. Margie and Kris also came to help. It was a family project and we got the U-haul unloaded. Thanks kids for all your help. Kipp and Lance came in on Wednesday and we were all here for Christmas. It was the 1st time we had all been together for a very long time. We all had a great time. Santa even came to see us and the grandkids took turns setting on his lap and telling him what they wanted. I saw a few looks from their parents since their list had changed. Anyway Santa found us and Lance cooked a wonderful Christmas dinner. The best I've ever had. Thank Lance...

Everyone was great at helping clean and unload boxes. The home was different in some rooms and some rooms look just like I left them. So Matt painted my bedroom (sour apple), bathroom (honeydew) and the entree (cinnabar). It looks great and I love the colors. Now everyone has gone home and I have spent 2 nights alone. It sure is different being here and knowing Bob will not be coming in the door. But I feel the protection of him and my Dad so I know this is where I am suppose to be at this time in my life. I get to feed the horses and mule each day and love the dogs. It is good for my soul...I love being home and I love my family.

A time for growth

October 13 made a big change in my families lives, Bob the father of my children died while he was out walking on the canal bank with his dogs, doing what he loved. What a shock, he was only 55 and seamed to be in good health. The kids and I drove all night to get to Twin Falls where the healing began. What a week it was as the kids planned Bob's funeral and looked through his business and notes. How nice it was to be in our home and feel Bob's present. We cried, laughed, shared memories, hugged and loved being together. Life is short and we can't take things with us but memories are wonderful and can be held onto forever. The grandkids (all 9) had a great time playing outside especially in the BIG TREE HOUSE, Bob was making for them. Bob we have many wonderful memories of being together as a family and we will all miss you very much. But we know you are busy helping others and working very hard now. You also have the knowlege of life and understanding of things that one day we will all have. We all love you and someday we will all be together again..........

New Home

I have lived here in Flagstaff a little over 2 months. The weather is very nice. I love having the fresh air and sun light come in my windows. I hear the train whistle blow all times of the day and night. The train goes from here to Albuquerque each day so I think we should all go on a train ride. The other evening a black cat came meowing at my door. He wanted to come in and I had to tell him this was not his home but he could visit if he would like. So some evenings he is at the door maybe I should give him some Tuna Fish or MAYBE NOT......He made me think that Halloween is close. I planted some black-eyed susans under my front window and they look so cheerful. I also planted comfrey so I could have some green drinks. Yummy Yummy. I can't wait for the leaves to start turning colors as Fall comes. I have missed watching the leaves change. This is going to be a great fall.
